Use a Passcode or Touch ID to sign into the QuickBooks Online app (iOS only)

Learn how to set up a Passcode or Touch ID for your iPhone or iPad.

Save time signing in to the QuickBooks Online app by using a Passcode or Touch ID instead of entering your username and password each time you log in. iPhone and iPad users can set this up by following the steps below.



Set up Passcode

  1. Go to your device's Settings, then select Passcode.
  2. Slide the Passcode button to turn it on.
  3. Select and confirm the code you'll use to open the QuickBooks Online app.

Things to know:

  • You can turn Passcode functionality on and off as well as change your Passcode.
  • If you forget your Passcode, simply sign in with your username and password, and reset your Passcode in Settings. If you have multiple devices, you can use different Passcodes for each one.
  1. Go to your device's Settings, choose Account, then select Passcode.
  2. Slide the Passcode button to turn it on.
  3. Select and confirm your digit code. You'll use this code to open the QuickBooks Online app.

Things to know:

  • You can turn Passcode functionality on and off as well as change it at any time.
  • If you forget your Passcode, just sign in with your username and password, and reset your Passcode in Settings. If you have multiple devices, you can use different Passcodes for each one.


Set up Touch ID

  1. From the Menu ☰, select Settings.
  2. Slide the Passcode button right to turn it on.
  3. Slide the Touch ID button right to activate Touch ID.
  4. Close and reopen the QuickBooks Online app.

Things to know:

  • When you see the Touch ID for QuickBooks Online prompt, place the same finger that you previously used to set up Touch ID for your device on the Home button to register your fingerprint.
  • If QuickBooks Online can't authenticate your fingerprint, sign in with your username and password, and then try setting up Touch ID again.
  1. From the Menu ☰, select Settings ⚙, then choose Account, then select Touch ID and Passcode.
  2. Slide the Passcode button right to turn it on.
  3. Slide the Touch ID button right to activate Touch ID.
  4. Close and reopen the QuickBooks Online app.

Things to know:

  • When you see the Touch ID for QuickBooks Online prompt, place the same finger that you previously used to set up Touch ID for your device on the Home button to register your fingerprint.
  • If QuickBooks Online can't authenticate your fingerprint, just sign in with your username and password, and then try setting up Touch ID again.
