reinstalling QB2012 validation

I have been running QuickBooks Pro 2012 R16P, UK version very happily since 2014. It is used for a small farm Shop and it totally adequate for our needs. I don't use Payroll. I have had to re-install it on another laptop as the original PC died, I have imported the data file successfully but I cannot insert an activation code because during the present emergency QB phones do not work. I was told by an operative on line that QB2012 is no longer supported which I was well aware of already! Surely I ought to be able to do a re-install without having to upgrade! I have License number, Product number and Customer number but no way to generate an activation code.  Can anybody help? JV

Thanks for posting in the Community, @jovital.

 

Since the version of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is already unsupported, the ability to generate a validation code is currently unavailable. You can try downloading a 30-day trial of QBDT (as long as the laptop meets the minimum requirements) or upgrade to a newer version as a workaround.

If company is refused to provide the validation code, you don't have any choice but upgrading to recent version. Afaik, company does not offer one-time license option for UK version any longer. Due to the fact that you were still using unsupported version, consider switching to QB US version for your case. You may get Pro 2020 1 user for < US$200.

Thanks for your input although it doesn't solve my problem. I just wanted to carry on using an eight years' old software that I paid for and that I find perfectly adequate for my needs. I either have to overcome my intense dislike of QB OnLine UI, or I shall have to spend much more money on a subscription or a license for QBDesktop 2020 which doesn't seem to be easily available in the UK. I also run a 10 years old Audi A3. The automotive industry's equivalent of this problem would be if Audi had in 2016 prevented me from starting up my car in the morning because it was an eight year old model. How does IT get away with it?

While your QuickBooks Desktop version is no longer supported, you have the option to either upgrade your version or consider switching to other products like QuickBooks Online.

You have to contact and ask Support directly to get the activation code. Otherwise, I would recommend 2 options:

1. Migrate to QBO SA.

If you ring the desktop helpline on 0808 168 9535, they will be able to give you the activation code, to activate it for you.
