Check number on Sales Receipt

Hello - I am trying to figure out if there is a way to format the sales receipt so when I download/print it, it displays the check number. So far I haven't had any luck figuring it out. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks!

Check number on Sales Receipt

We can add a custom field, chanscar.

This way, it will display the check number when printing the Sales Receipt. Let me guide you with these steps:

  1. From the Gear icon, select Custom form styles.
  2. In the New style drop-down, select Sales receipt.
  3. Go to the Content tab.
  4. Click the pencil (edit) icon on the header section.
  5. Go to the Custom fields section and then click Manage custom fields.
  6. Click Add field.
  7. Select whether it's Customer infoVendor info, or Transaction info.
  8. You can enter Check Number as the field Name.
  9. In the Type section, select Number.
  10. Tick the Use on sales form and Show to customer boxes.
  11. Click Save.

Afterward, you're good to create a Sales receipt and then enter the check number.SC 04.JPG

You can take a look at these articles when customizing a sales receipt:

There you have it, chanscar. Let me know if you still have other concerns. Stay safe!

Check number on Sales Receipt

Hi Adrian -

Thanks for your reply! This looks like a great solution however I do not see a "Manage Custom Fields" option. I only have the option to manually type in new custom fields. See attached. I tried switching to different templates and that didn't seem to make a difference. I am using QuickBooks Plus for non-profits. I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Check number on Sales Receipt

Hello there, @chanscar

Thanks for posting here in the Community. This is a new feature being rolled out by QuickBooks Online (QBO). I recommend opening an incognito browser for your corresponding browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you're in the incognito window, sign in to your QBO account and try to view the Check Number option on your sales receipt. If you're still unable to see this option, please reach back out to me here. I'm always here to help. Have a safe and productive week ahead!

Hi Kendra -

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, I am not seeing it in an incognito window in Chrome either. Thanks!
