Online vs Desktop Contractor Edition

I'm currently quite confused on which one should we use. My dad has a small General Contractor company and currently he uses Spreadsheets to create estimates and, based on the cost (materials, labor, gas, etc.), adds up margin profit and comes up with the final price to provide the customer with.

He has multiple crews, only a few are employees, the rest are just independent contracts. We don't really need tracking inventory or materials, just a way to allocate costs per job and track them separately from other costs.

Desktop Premier Contract Edition seems to be great but Online has also similar features according to our needs? I'd like to keep it as simple as possible that's why I'd go with Online.

I would recommend QB Desktop Premier. You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021 if required. But if you are not familiar with QB Desktop or have an accounting background, you should choose QBO Plus to have the Project feature.
