Hello there, seugnet,
You can adjust the column width on reports with these steps:
You can also customize the columns that will show on the report.
I'll be here if you have additional questions about customization.
Please help. This used to work. Now nothing shows up when I hold my cursor over the 3 dots. I used to use this constantly and it no longer shows up. It must have changed in an update. Can I have a fix please? I do not have time to export every single report to excel and save it as a pdf before emailing.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, @Jend2.
It's my priority to help get the column width to show in the report. Let's perform the browser troubleshooting to get you back on track.
Issues like this are sometimes caused by your browser holding too much data. When this happens, it can result in odd behaviors within the product.
To start with, we’ll have to open your account in a private window or incognito mode. It does not store data, which makes it a good place to start to see if there are any issues with the browser.
Depending on the browser you're using, refer to these keyboard shortcuts:
From there, open any reports and hover your mouse to adjust the column width. If you’re able to perform this task smoothly, clear the cache of your regular browser to start on a clean slate. I also suggest running the Health Checkup Tool to identify any issues with the browser’s health and its compatibility with QBO.
Let me share Customise reports in QuickBooks Online guide for future reference. It outlines the instructions on how to share and manage custom reports.

Let's run the verify and rebuild data utility tool. This helps identify and fix data issues within your company file including issues like the one with your reports. Let me walk you through the process.
To run the rebuild tool, here's how:
Once you're done, restart your computer and open your reports again. Check if you can now move the columns of your report. You can learn more about verify and rebuild tools at this link here: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm also attaching this article on how to fix data damage that you might find helpful. It contains possible solutions to data damage.
That'll do it. Please know that we're always here if you have other question, so don't hesitate to reach out. Have a great day ahead.
Hello, @Jend2.
Since you're still unable to adjust the column width after performing the verify and rebuild data utility tool, I suggest reaching out directly to our Customer Support.
Their tools can further check your account in a secure environment. You can arrange a callback to talk to them. Follow the steps below:
Here's the contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team article for more information about this. Also, check out this article for more information about running reports in QBDT.
I'm always here if you have any other concerns. Have a wonderful day!
I get the marker that I can point at the column but it won't let me drag it over. I'm trying to minimize the columns so I can see everything on one screen. Totally annoying because I have a large screen!!
Let’s get to the bottom of this and get you back in working order, @cmacdonald.
To ensure we're on the same page, are you using QuickBooks Online (QBO)? If so, let’s perform some steps to isolate this issue. I recommend accessing your QBO account on a private or incognito window. This way, we can check if this issue is caused by browser cache.
Stored browser cache for a while causes uncommon behavior to your browser that affects your QBO performance. To start with, you can use these keyboard shortcuts in opening a private window.
If you’re able to adjust the column width while using a private window, then I recommend clearing your regular browser’s cache. This will delete those cache and make your browser to function efficiently.
If the same thing happens, try using other supported browsers. This way, we can check if this is a browser integrated issue.
However, if you’re referring to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), I recommend running the Verify and Rebuild tool. This tool identifies and fixes uncommon issues within your company file. You can refer to this article that can guide you through the detailed steps: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop
