Yes, you can migrate your QuickBooks Desktop data into an existing QuickBooks Online (QBO) company, including one billed to your accountant, but this process will completely overwrite any data currently in that QBO company. It's also important to note that you must perform the import within 60 to 90 days of creating the QBO account.
To ensure a smooth transition of your QBDT data to your QBO subscription, please keep in mind the following essential points:
The transition process can vary depending on the version of QBDT you currently use. For QBDT 2021 or older versions, you can use our web-based migration tool. Before doing so, please create a backup copy of your company file.
Once done, convert your file to the online version. Here's how:
Choose the link for your QBDT version:
When your file is uploaded, we will auto-update it to the latest version of QBDT. You'll then see an option to move to QBO. You can then follow the on-screen instructions to guide you through the movement.
