Question

Enterprise Desktop to Online

Migration was a disaster -   over 793 errors -  no one has been able to help me -  seems like historical data from 1999 -  especially the General Journal transactions that closed out the year -  were not moved over -  now I am being told that it can’t be that all my data will come with me.   I was sent articles that did not address the specifics -  the solution -  loose my history -  and have a hard start/stop date …..

The only benefit for the online - is the AI help….. which I have never needed with Enterprise Diamond -

The price for the online is so cheap -  I should have known -  you really do get what you pay for.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. Since your files date back to 1999, it's likely that the massive volume of your data went over the 4,000,000 limit allowed for a successful import. For you to successfully migrate your data, you need to condense your data and improve its performance.

Here's how:

  1. Select File, then click on Utilities.
  2. Choose Condense Data.
  3. Select Keep all transactions while removing audit trail information to date.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Then, select Close.

Once you've condensed all your data, you can run the migration again for a clean slate.

Please respond to this post if you still have additional concerns.

Thank you for your reply…  however, this isn’t the reason -  the transaction count  59,391    -  all of this was checked before I proceeded -    I have previously condensed the files -   and it appears that it is just some - of these transactions that were condensed that did not migrate over.    I found a Journal entry from 1999 that had a missing transaction.

from the import summary:

Import Summary
DATA    DESKTOP COUNT    ONLINE COUNT    DIFFERENCE
Accounts    330    328    2
Customers    9801    9801    0
Vendors    1105    1109    4
Employees    54    0    54
Items    2794    2791    3
TransactionCount    59391    59325    66
RecurringTransactionCount    0    0    0
FormTemplates    79    61    18
Profit and Loss    5042841.57    5246154.52    203312.95
Balance Sheet    2809814.46    4967858.39    2158043.93

Since your file was already condensed and your transaction count is within the migration limit, the missing entries may be due to data not transferring exactly as it appears in QuickBooks Desktop.

Migrating from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online can result in differences in how certain data and transactions are handled. Some transactions may not transfer at all, or they may appear differently after the conversion.

I recommend reviewing the affected journal entries and account balances in both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online to identify the specific differences.

You can also refer to this article for details on what data transfers during migration: Learn how features and data transfer from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

If the issue continues, I recommend contacting our Intuit Experts for further assistance with reviewing your migration results and missing transactions.

Feel free to chime back if you need more help.

@BieneckInt Why did you decide switching to Online? If the primary concern is the subscription cost, you can obtain a renewal discount to significantly reduce your expenses. Alternatively, you can use the QB Desktop Enterprise trial version to access historical data permanently.
