When I create an invoice in QBO it uses my custom invoice template but when I import invoices from a csv file it uses a completely different template. How do I fix this?

I'm here to help you figure out why you're having a different template when importing your invoice, @BRIANE1

The discrepancy in the invoice template used during the CSV import process is due to the mapping differences between your custom invoice template and the CSV file.

The fields in the CSV file may not align perfectly with the fields in your custom template, causing the system to default to a different template during import.

To address this, I recommend that once the invoices are uploaded into QBO, you can easily change the template for each invoice to your custom template. This can be done by opening the invoice in QBO and selecting your preferred custom template from the template options.

See screenshot below for your visual reference.

Additionally, I recommend visiting the following article to learn more about the accepted CSV formats in QuickBooks: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

The csv format is correct. I downloaded the csv template provided by QBO and have been using the same file for months I just update the information. The custom invoice template worked for months and I haven't changed it either. Last month QBO started defaulting imported invoices to the "modern" template instead of the custom one. I haven't changed anything about my process but now my invoices look a lot different and do not line up in my envelopes. How do I fix this?

I understand the importance of working with templates we're comfortable with, @BRIANE1

Let me provide some additional insights on this matter. The reason why you're experiencing this is due to the new experience. QuickBooks Online has just transitioned to the new invoice layout. Thus, when we import invoices through CSV, QBO then sets the modern template as the default template.

If you can switch to the old invoice experience, we use that as a workaround to manually add the invoices.

We recognize how hard it is to transition to what we're used to, @BRIANE1. We value your understanding of these new changes.
