Hi, Mark_Hatchett.

I'm here to give details on why recurring transactions aren't running and how to fix them.

The recurring transaction stop working are caused by these reasons:

  1. The recurring template isn't set to schedule.
  2. The credit card associated with the recurring transaction may have been expired.
  3. There's a problem with the recurring template.

Let's run some steps to fix it. First, please ensure that the recurring template is set to schedule and has not reached its End Date. Also, we can delete and recreate the problematic template.

Here are the steps to delete:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Recurring Transactions.
  3. Locate the template that stops working.
  4. In the Action column, click Edit.
  5. Take note of the details. You'll need it when recreating them.
  6. Hit Delete.

Once done, you can recreate a new template.

Here's how:

  1. Go back to the recurring template window.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the details of your template.
  4. Select Save and Close.

If the issue persists, you can manually create a transaction using the recurring template. You can review this material for more detailed information: How to handle a recurring transaction that did not run.

In addition, I've added this helpful article for your future reference: Duplicate transactions when using a recurring template.  Here you find information in handling this type of situation if case you'll encounter any.

You're always welcome to post a comment if you need further help with recurring transactions. The Community and I are always here to back you up. More power to your business.

Thanks for getting back to us quickly, @Mark_Hatchett. It could be that your browser’s cache is overloaded, that's why none of your recurring transactions scheduled today have run.

To check, let's use a private window to confirm the issue. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If that worked via the private window, clear the browser's cache on your regular web browser. Otherwise, use another supported, up-to-date browser.

I'm also adding some resources below with more insights about the recurring transaction feature in QuickBooks Online:

Get back to me if you have additional concerns. I'd be glad to attend to your next post.
