Hi there, @okbrickworks.

There are times that the data in your browser is outdated which needs to be cleared to avoid having this error. To isolate this error, I suggest using an incognito browser to check if this is a browser-relate issue.

Once you have successfully created your expense transaction, you can go back to your regular browser and clear it's cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you want to create a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use another browser.

Here are the keyboard shortcut keys to access an incognito browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Hold down  + Option +
  • Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

For future reference, you can check this out if you want to run and save a monthly expense report by vendor.

Loop me in if you need anything else. I'll be here to help. Take care.

I tried a different browser on a completely different PC. Same problem.

Was this issue ever resolved?  I am having the same issue now.  I tried the incognito window as well as restarting my computer.

I wish I could make it better, @Heather-Starr.

We've received several reports from other customers, like you, who received such an error when creating an expense. But the said investigation has already been closed as resolved. Since the issue persists, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support.

With their tools, one of our specialists can pull up your account on file and create a ticket to be submitted to our engineering team to determine the reason behind this unexpected error prompt. You can do so by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter An error message when creating an expense in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Choose a channel available to connect with our specialists.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about when are you able to connect to our support: Contact QuickBooks Products and Services Support.

Lastly, I've also included this reference helpful in creating your vendor's transaction based on the mode of payment used: What is the difference between bills, checks, and expenses?

Unbelievable.  I just started with QuickBooks and I can't even get my accounts added because of this error.  I've exhausted every known solution available.....every browser, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Explorer, deleted cache, cookies, history, used incognito, private browsing.  I'm so disappointed with this thing.  What a colossal waste of time.   Now I'm forced to waste more time by adding this to a community.  Next step is to waste more time contacting support. I'm glad this is happening in my first month because I have no problem cancelling my subscripting and trying another provider.

Very disappointed.

Did you ever resolve it or find an solution? I am getting the same error as everyone else. I have tried it on Firefox, Edge, Chrome, and Safari all on different devices, have tried clearing my cache, and have tried it in an private browser on each. Nothing seems to work.

I'm receiving the error when trying to view downloaded transactions on a specific account. I know it's not the bank connection because I can view and change transactions for a different account at that bank. And I can see that there are new transactions that have downloaded. I just can't see them when I select the account. I have tried to view the transactions in Safari, Chrome, and on my iPhone using the Quickbooks app. I receive the error on all applications.

same issue as previous posted, "Something’s not quite right, Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again."  I'm receiving the error when trying to view downloaded transactions on a bank account. I can see that there are new transactions that have downloaded but they will not load.  I have tried to view the transactions in Chrome and the QBO desktop app and I receive the error on all applications.

Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, zoezoe12. I appreciate your detailed information.

Since you're encountering a "Something’s not quite right, Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again." message and pages aren't loading properly, I'd recommend checking your browser. It's possible this could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause issues with certain webpages. You can open a private window and check to see if you're able to see the downloaded transactions.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If you're able to see your transactions while browsing privately, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by your browser. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.

In the event screens continue not loading properly while browsing in incognito mode, you'll initially want to try switching to another browsing application.

Here's a list of supported browsers

  • Google Chrome - version 78 or newer
  • Mozilla Firefox - version 76 or newer
  • Microsoft Edge - version 75 or newer
  • Opera - version 68 or newer
  • Samsung - version 10 or newer
  • Safari - version 12 or newer

You can also check a browser's compatibility with QuickBooks by utilizing our browser health checkup tool. QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of browsers. If you find that you're using an unsupported version, make sure to update it to its latest release. Steps for doing so can be found on the particular company's website.

In the event you've found no problems that could be causing this with your browser, you'll want to check the operating system and internet speed you're working with.

Here's our recommended operating systems and internet speeds:

  • Windows PC - Windows 10, Intel Core i3 or a comparable processor (2013 or newer) with at least 2 GB of RAM, or Windows 10, Intel Core i5 or comparable processor with at least 4 GB of RAM.
  • Mac - OS X El Capitan 10.11, OS X High Sierra 10.13, or newer.
  • Linux - QuickBooks works with Linux, but you'll want to make sure you're using a supported browser and our recommended internet speeds.
  • Internet connection - 1.5 Mbps to 3 Mbps or higher.

If you meet all of our system requirements, but are still encountering pages that aren't loading properly, I'd recommend using a different device and/or internet connection. If it continues happening on other devices and/or internet connections, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up the account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while you're signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Help (?) icon.

  2. Click Contact Us.

  3. Enter a description of your situation in the What can we help you with? field, then hit Let's talk.

  4. Select Start messaging or Get a call.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I've also included a detailed resource about system requirements for QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward: System requirements

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a lovely day!

The problem is missing info that is needed to complete the transaction i.e. a business number or address make sure all of your company info and tax rates are set up correctly, I had this same problem with payroll and it was because one employees DOB was missing.

I keep getting the same error when I log in to QB desktop. Then when I go to the Employee Center, it kicks me out. Does anyone know how to fix this. I called QB and they want me to send them my file and they will fix and send it back to me but I will be unable to use for about 6 days when they get the file back to me. This is a mess. 😱

Following, I'm having the same issue.

Let's fix the error message you're getting so you can proceed with your tasks, Ig22 and Hannah.

I want you to know that being kicked out from accessing the Employee Center in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) can be caused by user restrictions or damaged data within your file. To isolate the issue, I recommend closing and opening QuickBooks again as a master admin. Then, go to the Employee Center to narrow down the result.

If the error continues, you can perform some troubleshooting steps to repair possible data damage. Here are the following:

  • Repair your company file using the Rebuild Data tool.
  • Repair your company file using QuickBooks File Doctor.
  • Manually repair your company file by rebuilding your data.

I'm also adding these articles for your guide on each solution stated:

From there, you can start working with your employees and payroll entries.

However, if you're getting the same result, I suggest contacting our QBDT Support to check your accounts securely and investigate this issue further. Support is open M-F from 6 AM to 6 PM.

If you have follow-up questions while working with QuickBooks or managing your employees, let me know by leaving a comment below. I'm more than happy to help you again. Have a good one!

We've been having the same issue for several days. Contacted support and after a half hour of asking questions unrelated to my issue, the agent did a screen share. Another 15 minutes and; "Yes it is broken, we'll reach out when fixed. Is there anything else I can help you with".

Now, considering this renders our QBO useless, we have to put our accounting on hold until Untuit finds an engineer to take a look at it.

If I were to have a nickel for the time we waste trying to get timely support, we'd need a special account...
