QuickBooks Q&A

At some point in May 2020, I ran a verify that told me I had an error and had Uncategorized Income and Uncategorized Expense in an entry in 2017. I found the entry and deleted the 2-line entries but when I closed and reopened QB--they came back. My issue is that I don't have any Uncategorized Income and Expense entries. I never download any banking transactions into my QB....so how did this happen and how do I fix it. It doesn't affect my totals on my financials because it created a debit and credit entry that simply offset each other, but I want to get it out of there. I ran a Rebuild, but it didn't correct the problem. But, my Verify runs each day don't catch it any more...so what do I do?
Not really sure which category this falls under. Total noob here with QB online. Trying to file my taxes and I notice under my P&L report that some of my income transactions are categorized under "Uncategorized Income" instead of the "Service/Fee" category like the rest. I never really used invoices previously but started encountering this problem once I started using them and I can't figure out how to change them over. Usually I can just find it in my banking and undo it to put in the right category but I guess because these are invoices I matched, the transactions aren't showing up in my banking under Categorized. How do I get these categorized correctly under "Service/Fee"?
I’ve been trying for 20 minutes to get into my QB Accountant online page to work. I put in my password, select my company and it just thinks. Cleared history, tried Microsoft edge, Google and Brave browsers, same issue… It thinks once it’s into the online system. It’s accepting my password, just not doing anything but timing out, no outages reported. Any ideas on how to even report an outage if you can’t get to your account page?
someone please help me change my legal name in quickbooks, i have been on hold for 30 minutes (Title has been edited by moderator for clarity)
I've been dealing with the same limitation in QuickBooks Desktop and Enterprise for years: there's no simple way to print item images on invoices, estimates, sales orders, purchase orders, or sales receipts. After getting frustrated with it for so long, I finally built my own solution. Here's how it works:You save your QuickBooks document as a PDF, exactly the way you already do. Then you drop that PDF into my tool. It reads the line items, matches each item code with your existing product photos, and creates a new version of the document with the correct image beside each item.In about 30 seconds, you get: A print-ready PDF with product images. An Excel file containing the extracted data. The tool only reads the PDF. It doesn't connect to QuickBooks, doesn't use the QuickBooks API, and never touches your company file. It also compares the calculated line totals with the document total, so if something doesn't add up, you'll know before sending it to a customer. The reason I built this
The non-profits for which I serve as an unpaid accountant/bookkeeper can no longer afford their pro-rata shares of the QB Plus renewal fee. Nor can they afford to use QBO. That is not an Intuit problem. My concern is that I continue to be able to use my QB Plus as I have. Of course, I expect no updates. I do expect assistance fixing of existing bugs and glitches. After the many years I have been a QB subscriber it would be more than unseemly to loose the functionality I have paid for.
We pay some employees a monthly bonus check and Intuit is charging us for each check, not each employee. Is anyone else having this issue? I've been on the chat and the phone and none of their "experts" seem to know how to resolve this. The invoices also do not specify which period the fee is for. For being accounting software, their invoices are badly lacking necessary detail.
We are general contractors. In order to invoice a customer for a construction draw, we need to know all the current expenses and income for a specific customer (job). (We have the “jobs” under customers and subcustomers not projects.) We have tried the Profit and Loss Detail by Customer report but this takes materials (cost of goods sold) and does all the fancy accounting stuff and applies invoices to them. We just want a simple report that will show a list of current expenses (materials, subcontractors, etc.) and any payments that the customer has made. We would not be using it for tax purposes, just simply to see the status of a job at a specific time. It could be like a check register, listed chronologically, and a running balance on the side. Or it could be similar to the profit loss statement but without the cost of goods stuff going on. We have also tried the Troansaction List by Customer but it also splits the cost of goods sold up. Might be doing something wrong. Any
I am no longer able to edit the Customer/Client field on a deposit entry. Instead, it automatically inherits the Received From field, even when the payment was received from a Vendor. Chat support confirmed that this was an intentional update, but this change removes functionality that is essential for us. We are a law firm, and many of our deposits are received from third parties such as co-counsel, opposing counsel, insurance companies, and other vendors. The Received From field should identify who actually sent the funds, while the Customer/Client field should identify which client the deposit belongs to. Those are two different pieces of information. Because these fields are now forced to match, we have to choose between recording who actually paid us or correctly associating the deposit with the client. In practice, this means we will have to list the funds as being received from the client instead of the actual payer. This change also eliminates valuable reporting capabilities. We
Can anyone guide me on how to add a new employee's contribution. A screen shot would be great since this old lady sometimes missread things.
Is there anything I need to check to make sure this doesn’t happen again? Several of my clients emailed to say they hadn’t received my invoic.
I recently sold my business and have 2 business accounts on my QB 2019 desktop version on my old office computer/server. I need to move the company files to my home computer. I downloaded QB 2019 desktop onto my home computer, created a QB backup for both companies, and am able to access my newer company (started in 2020) but not my other (started in 2002). It states “unrecoverable error”. I have read other threads and have tried the options suggested without success. I have been having a problem with the backup file based on the fact that my accountant has not been able to open it on his end for the past 2 tax years, so we have been sending him the specific reports he needs as opposed to him being able to access the company via the .qbb file. His IT people have tried to figure out the issue without success. Any suggestions? I am trying to avoid buying the online version due to the high monthly subscription fees, especially since I will be using QB very minimally moving forward.Thank y
cannot open my files...says check to be sure not opened by another (it's not) or that it is "read only (it's not). The windows error was “this file exists”
I opened a business checking account with QuickBooks about 3 years ago. Everything went smooth all along without issue. Two weeks ago, I was looking to download my 1099-INT but I wouldn't find it. Their chatbot told me to call their support and gave me a phone number. After on the call for an hour, bounced 5 different times to several support reps from offshore, they offered to escalate the ticket for me. The rep spotted I had a different phone number on file and asked if he could call my number on file to verify I was the account owner. I never mentioned my company phone number to anyone that day, so he must had been looking at my account in their system. 10 seconds later I received the call on the other line from the same rep with the same matching incoming caller ID. He said he will send me a code to authorize viewing my account and attached the escalation. I hesitated but ended up gave him to code. While he said he was typing the ticket details, I managed to find the
I purchased a new computer and when I downloaded Quick Books, restored my company file from a backup. Now, when I go to my invoices and click on the attachment that was there, I get a message that says specific file not found. How do I find that file on my old computer and bring it to my new one? I do not have an online account.
We are still using QB POS 19.Usually works fine, we run the server and 4 workstations.Yesterday I had to replace a workstation. Downloaded POS, it got stuck on "reading receipts" for about 12 hrs. I closed it the next morning and then it worked fine. Then it didn't. Could not find the company server file. Then the other machines started losing connection for hours at a time. Some would later connect, others would not. Most of the day only 1 workstation would connect. By end of day 2 were connected. Its not a network issue, what else could be causing this and how could we fix it?
I first saved it to USD, and it worked. But after editing multi currency, and saving it, it automatically returned to my home currency
Bulk posting of bank transactions incorrectly requires tax rates. Individual posting works without tax. This appears to be a bug.
I have an accrual basis balance sheet with an approximate $30,000 balance. When we switch to show the balance sheet in “cash basis” it has a small negative balance. Here is the main issue: I went to write off some bad debts and when I do…..it increases the negative AR balance on the cash basis. I am stumped on why it is doing this.
When using QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced payroll (for accountants), QB is rounding all of my federal withholding amounts to the nearest dollar. So for instance instead of being $53.68 it is $54. This happens for every check in the impacted files. Not all client files are impacted by this issue. What would cause it to round. It’s not a huge deal just really annoying. I’ve done updates, repaired the file, and the item is set-up correctly. I’ve also had this problem in a brand new file. Nothing works to fix this.
Hi!The “Subject to Medicare” button got incorrectly checked, and an employee’s paystub got processed with no MC withheld. After turning “Subject to Medicare” back on, I manually calculated the missing amount and added the missing MC tax to be withheld from the employee’s next payroll. Now I’m processing quarterly reports and found out Quickbooks self-adjusted and removed my correction. How do I prevent this going forward?I’m on Quickbooks Payroll Desktop.
Can i subscribe to the Payroll even if i already have a QBO company or is it a separate entity?
I keep getting the error in my QuickBooks Desktop (NOT QB ONLINE) bank feed "You are no longer connected to Bank of America web connect, Set up a new connection with Bank of America - New again to start using the new and improved bank feeds."When I attempt this, it goes all the way through the process then at the very end when is says connected I get another air message, "Sorry, we've run into a problem. QuickBooks is having trouble connecting to Bank of America - New. Options; Try again later, this is a temporary issue and will be resolved in a day or two.Try to set up your Bank of America - new again then. Below this message it says; 88888 All accounts associated with this customer ID have been synced with QuickBooks bank feeds. If other wise contact your financial institution. No connection has been made and nothing has Syced. This has been going on for over a week now. I have contacted BoA and they state that QB has ended their relationship with them and I have conta
