Why Cant I Choose Sales Receipt Under Transaction Type When Setting Up Rules



I would like to set up a rule for my paypal bank in quickbooks, and I want to choose sales receipt as the transaction type but it doesnt appear there for me to choose.  I know this can be done as it works on one of my other quickbook accounts but not sure why it doesnt on this account, I am thinking its maybe a setting I have wrong, but not sure.


Would be grateful for any advice.

Automatic downloads for PayPal transactions will be discontinued. The reason for this is that we are having some multi-currency issues with their system. With this being said, you won't be able to set up bank rules for your PayPal deposits.


Our engineers are already working with their support team to gather more information on how to deal with this issue. Please allow us some time to resolve it.


Although its discontinued, you can still import PayPal transactions using a Excel CSV file. For more steps, please see this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files. Then, you can start reconciling your them.

Thanks for your reply, although I am sure this is not linked to my query as I did speak to quickbooks about this before and they resolved for me and I am sure its to do with a setting, as I cant choose sales receipt in my other bank that is linked either, I just cant think what the solution they gave me as it was a good year ago.


Having said that, the answer you have gave me is more alarming as the main reason I signed up for quickbooks was to handle the thousands of transactions I have each month and that quickbooks imports all of this automatically, so I hope there is a quick fix.


When is this starting as my quickbooks accounts are still importing paypal transactions at the moment.

At the moment, QuickBooks Online UK doesn't allow rules for sales receipts with credit card accounts. The system automatically disables any Credit Card selections when selecting this transaction type.


However, if you're working with bank accounts, and still not getting the option to select Sales Receipt for money in rules, open an Incognito browser. This prevents cookies from being stored on your computer, making it a great place to identify browser issues.


Try these keyboard shortcuts to start a private window:


Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N  
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
Internet Explorer: press Ctrl Shift P
Safari: press Command Shift N


If it works, clear the browser's cache. This clears the history or log of sites you visited to resolve problems with web pages.
