QB Crash right after opening

I purchased the 2018 version of QB in May.  I've had no issues up until yesterday when I got an error box immediately after putting in my pw.  It appears that the program opens but I get an "unrecoverable error" box with the code 01770 37507  I've rebooted, run update checks, virus checks and I've even installed the program on my laptop and the same issue is happening.  Please help.  I use this every day!

Hello, @sallyb1.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. You're in good hands here. I'd like to share with you some insight I have on this issue. There are a few steps available for this specific type of Unrecoverable error. This can be caused by the QBCF Monitor Service or the QuickBooks Installation itself. Since you've already tried installing on a different computer and you're receiving the same results, I recommend trying to disable the QBCF Monitor Service. Here's how:

  • End the QBCFMonitorService.exe process.
    • Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete on your keyboard to bring up the Task Manager.
    • On the Processes tab, click the Image Name header to display the processes alphabetically.
    • Select QBCFMonitorService.exe. and click End Process.
    • Click Yes on the warning message.
  • Prevent QBCF Monitor service from re-starting on the workstation.
    • Press Windows+R On your keyboard to open the Run window.
    • Type in services.msc and click OK.
    • Scroll down on the list and double-click QBCFMonitorService to open the Properties.
    • Choose Disabled as Startup type.
    • Select Apply and OK.

Try opening the company file once more. If you're still encountering the Unrecoverable error, I have an article for you that covers general troubleshooting steps for Unrecoverable errors. You can find that here: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1501515-unrecoverable-error-general-troubleshooting-steps

If you feel that you need help with any of these steps, you can reach out to the Customer Care Support team here: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact . Feel free to ask any questions you have here in the Community as well. Be sure to keep me posted on your progress with this.

I appreciate you performing the troubleshooting steps shared by my colleague above, @Key Largo Bill.

Let's perform other troubleshooting steps to sort it out and get you back to working order.

Just to clarify, have you tried downloading and installing the QuickBooks Tools Hub? If not, I suggest doing it so. This way, we can check if its a company file issue related.

Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. From the tool hub, select the Company File Issues tab.
  6. Select Run QuickBooks File Doctor
  7. In QuickBooks File Doctor, choose your company file from the drop-down menu. If you don’t see your file, hit Browse and search to find your file.
  8. Press Check your file and then Continue.
  9. Enter your QuickBooks admin password and click Next.

If it doesn't work, please feel free to read this article for more troubleshooting steps: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.

If the issue persists after performing all the troubleshooting, I highly recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. This way, they can further investigate this matter and create an investigation ticket if other users are experiencing the same.

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be around to help if you have any other concerns. Have a good one.

I have Quick Books 2019 Pro. I am having this problem since last year October 2018. What happen actually as soon as you open Quick Books it shuts down without any error message. Upon calling the Tech numorous time and what they got a solution is after doing their diagnosis they create a new user and it starts working. I have almost 10 users on my Windows 10 just because of this. Recently this morning I had the same issue and upon calling the Tech she did the same old technique. My point is why there is no cure for this problem which can resolve this permanently. Also she has suggested me to call Microsoft and tell them to do something with my user account so it won’t change resgistry entries by itself which is a totally new thing for me. Conclusion there is no solution for the problem Except making new users on windows.

Very disappointed.

We appreciate you taking time to inform us about this, Harisd.

You have an option to manually repair the Microsoft component. You can check this article for the steps: Unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps. Proceed to Solution 5 and start with step 4. It's a series of steps to repair the Microsoft components.

I also recommend for you to reach out to Microsoft so you will be assisted properly.

If you have other concerns that you'd like to voice out, please let me know. I'll note them down and offer any help I can.

My Quicbooks 2019 also crashes constantly.  I have started making backups of my company file every time I make any change to it, because I have had 6 company files crash and then refuse to repair (funny enough when I close the file and make the backup, there are no errors - but upon opening it crashes and destroys the file).  This is the worst version of QUICKBOOKS to date - and mind you 2016 was pretty bad.  I have run through every single so-called "fix" to no avail.  My last step is a clean install.

hmmm... next step SAGE?

Hello there, Sherall0,

Before going to clean uninstall, let's try first the QuickBooks Refresher Tool. This tool ends QuickBooks processes running in the background and also works as a mini repair of the program.

Here's how:

  1. Close all QuickBooks Desktop versions.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Refresher Tool.
  3. Save the file on your desktop.
  4. Run the QBRefresher tool.
  5. Re-open QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're getting a similar result, please proceed to uninstalling and reinstalling the program. Check this article for more information: Solutions for when QuickBooks stops working.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

I'm having this issue now with Quickbooks 2020.  I've troubleshot this on my own... here is what I have found:

1. I've uninstalled and re-installed QB - Same result

2. I've downgraded windows to the last known working version - Same result

3. After much frustration, I tried from another user account in Windows 10.  All 3 of my company files work there with no problem.

4. Going back to the original user account, QB Crashes right away.

5. Using the QB sample file on original  user account crashes as well.  It's not the data file that is the problem.  There is something with my user file.

6. Is there a new toolbar at the top?  It almost seems like it's getting hung up trying to display the home page.  But it works on the other user account.

7. I am running at 4K resolution... so I tried to lower resolution to 1920x1080.  QB still crashes on original user account.

8. I tried early on the the Quickbooks Tool Hub - I ran Quick Fix my Program and the Program Diagnostic tool.  Still crashes on open.

9. It only crashes when opening a company file.  I can hold CTRL when the program launches and it will display the option screen to choose a file - but whichever file you choose - crash.

10. Attached is a screencap of the error code

Please help!

Thanks,

Greg

  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop and click Continue as a guest.

Also, other Community fellows were able to share a fix by running QuickBooks with administrator privileges. To do this, find and right-click the QB icon on your desktop or Start menu, then select Run as administrator. Most of them got the same concerns as you.

I am now having this issue as of this morning. Have not previously had this issue but I have literally spent the better portion of the last 6.5hrs trying to resolve my issue. I have run QB File Doctor, I have run both Quick Fix my Program and Quickbooks Program Diagnostic Tool and Quick Fix my File from Quickbooks Tool Hub, I have tried copy and pasting my QB company file from the folder I had it in over to the desktop and tried opening it that way, I have tried updating my company file, I checked to see if I was on the current version of Windows(Currently on Windows 10 Ver 21H1, reluctant to update to Windows 11 as not sure if it’s compatible with QB desktop premier 2019).  I have done just about everything I’ve seen/found on the QB community short of creating a new Windows admin user on my computer or deleting and reinstalling QB. I did try opening a sample company file on Quickbooks and was able to get that to open without crashing. Also I might mention that on the “No Company File Selected” screen where you can select the company file you want to log in to, when I click on our company file(the same one we’ve always used), rather than going to the login screen for that company file, I get a pop-up that says “Quickbooks can’t find your company file. Choose the ‘Open or Restore Company…’ command from the ‘File’ menu to locate your company file.  Error Code: Company File Not Found.”. So I go to the “Open or Restore Company File” option, find my company file, select and open it and then when Quickbooks prompts me to I enter the admin password and it starts to load for 2 seconds and then immediately crashes as it has been all morning.  I went to the support link that was shared in this thread and tried to open a chat but for whatever reason, chat is unavailable(it’s only 2:45pm at the time of writing this, Message support hours are listed as 6a-6p so it should be working but it’s not which is inconvenient as _____(fill in the blank with your word of choice) since I need help ASAP). I am beyond infuriated with Intuit/QB Support and product at this point.

We have the software only, we did not opt for the annual subscription back in 2019 when we purchased our software… would it be if any benefit/help to me to just go ahead and get the 2020 or 2021 Desktop Premier software? Could that possibly solve my issue?

HELP!!!

QuickBooks company file corruption is often caused by issues with the computer or by how QuickBooks interacts with your system. To ensure you have all the updated components, make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release.
