when I went to install 2020 it took the license number but said that the product number was invauled.

I rechecked all number and they were correct

I'm here to help fix the product license number issue upon installing QuickBooks Desktop 2020.

 

The license number and product code should match. If you bought the software from our website, look in the purchase confirmation email you received from us. If it's from a retail store, look for the brightly colored sticker on the original CD envelope.

 

If you get the error The validation code is incorrect or This service is temporarily unavailable, you'll want to perform the recommended solutions shown below to resolve this.

 

Solution 1: Check your date and time settings

  1. Close your QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Right-click the time display on the Windows taskbar, then select Adjust Date/Time.
  3. Check if your date and time settings are correct. If they are, move on to the next solution. If not, continue with the steps 4 to 8.
  4. Select the Date & Time tab, then set the date for the current year.
  5. Select Apply, then OK.
  6. Open your QuickBooks Desktop, then go to Help.
  7. Select Activate QuickBooks, then Begin Activation.
  8. Enter the validation code, then select Next.

Solution 2: Create a new Windows admin

  1. Add a Windows user with admin rights.
  2. After creating the new user, sign out of Windows and sign back in as the new user.
  3. Install and activate your QuickBooks Desktop.

Solution 3: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop

 

If the solutions above didn't fix the problem, perform a clean install of QuickBooks. Rest assured, a clean install won't affect your accounting data since your company file and everything it holds isn't involved at all.

I have bought the QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 version from the retailer.  The disc will not work in my computer (I think it's my disc drive having an issue), but I tried to download the version off of the website.  It is asking me for Licence Number which I have, but it will not accept my Product Number.  I've read the other issues with the other users, but I don't have their issues.  My product number it says is incorrect.  Thank you!

Try download the installer for QBD CA version to make sure. Once it accepted your codes, cancel the installation wizard and claim your refund.

They can check on your details to make sure that you got the correct product number and will guide you step by step to resolve this.

  1. Go to the Help icon, then click on Contact Us.
  2. Enter a brief description of your concern, then click Let's Talk.
  3. Choose from options provided on how to contact support.

I have the same issue. I had to wipe my laptop and have attempted to reinstall Dektop Pro 2020. Says product number is incorrect but I havevtriplw-checked against Intuit email. All three toll-free numbers have for QB disconnect after going through all prompts.

Bought on Amazon downloading says product number wrong. But in email its giving the product number same every time

Hello @Tanya mcgrath! I'm happy to see you in the Community. Let's take a look at the best place to find that product number. 

 

The product number should be on a brightly colored sticker on the CD package. Not sure what number was in the email, but let's verify it with the number found directly on the CD covering. I had the same problem this morning. I ordered a hard copy of Quickbooks 2021 and I received NO License or Product Number inside the package. No where..

 

I followed the advice to email for my product information. Entered those numbers and got the error that the Product Number was incorrect.

 

I then logged into my Quickbooks account online and found entirely different product information- a DIFFERENT License and Product Number than I had just been emailed.

 

Thankfully, these numbers worked, but Quickbooks is sooo jacked up. It's beyond frustrating.

I have renewed my subscription and downloaded the exe file.  I know there is a new product number for the 21 download, but it was never provided to me.  Can you help?  I know my license has been renewed and properly entered.

As Fiat Lux - ASIA suggestion above, you can visit the Customer Account Management Portal Site (CAMPS) to verify your company’s subscription and manage your QuickBooks Desktop products license/product information. To guide you further, please follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account info. This could be different from what you use to sign in to your company file.
  3. If you see multiple products to choose from, select QuickBooks Desktop to go to CAMPs.

 

If you cannot locate QuickBooks license or product number, you can get your license information by entering your business phone number or email on file through this link: Locate Your License. Once done, click the Find license and product number button.

You can log in to the Customer Account Management Portal Site (CAMPS) to obtain your license number. I'll show you how.

 

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com.
  2. Sign in with your Intuit Account info. This could be different from what you use to sign in to your company file.
  3. If you see multiple products to choose from, select QuickBooks Desktop to go to CAMPs.

 

Alternatively, you can use our license locator by entering your business phone number or email address through this link: Locate your license.

 

If you're unable to log in to CAMPS and can't locate your license through the link, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support. They have the tools to pull up your account and look for your license number.
