This is a known issue, they knew about it when they upgraded and didn't tell anyone. All of the import features now do not work also. We have to deal with this daily now and it has become a huge burden on our business, tech support has no help. Most ridiculous thing ever. Your reward for spending thousands of dollars and upgrading is getting a faulty system that crashes and has less features than your previous version.
I have QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 that was working fine until yesterday. Now it crashes right after opening. I've tried several troubleshooting steps - QB update/repair, uninstall/reinstall, Windows update, QB Tool Hub, .... It sounds like others have had the same issue. Has anyone been able to find a fix?

I have Windows 10. I installed it on my laptop and it's working there. Not sure what changed on my other PC, have always used QB on that one without any problems.

tried to call intuit for help got an incoming call (strange) from "logmeinrescue.com" who offer repair service for $700 annual sub. Is this a total scam? 4 days cant open quickbooks 2 hrs with quicken support re "Bugsplat" error message could not help.
You have to ask the call back from your Help menu. What kind of issue did you encounter with your file? Have you run the QB Tool Hub?
QuickBooks crashes right after it is opened, happens with all files. Yes, I tried the QB Tool Hub too.
I can share a couple of info and steps to ensure you can contact our support team and open your QuickBooks, @pdrichie1.
In addition to what Fiat Lux - ASIA stated, Intuit doesn't call you and ask for a service charge unless you requested a callback. To avoid these scam phone calls, we highly recommend not including any private information such as personal/business phone numbers, email addresses, or credit card details when posting here in the Community.
If you keep receiving this kind of call or any fraudulent acts, I'd suggest reporting this directly to us by emailing it to spoof@intuit.com. For more security tips, please check out this link: Intuit Online Security Center.
Also, we've made some changes to our Support options for QuickBooks Desktop. Our representatives are available through chat or messaging to accommodate all our customer's concerns effectively. For your next concern, what my colleague @MirriamM outlined above are the possible reasons why QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) won't open. To fix this, make sure to update QBDT to the latest release to have the latest features and needed patches. Since you've already run the QuickBooks Tool Hub and still won't work, you can suppress QBDT. This will help identify a company file damage.
Here's how:
If the same thing happens, please follow Solutions 3 to 5 outlined in this article: What to do when QuickBooks doesn't start or won't open.
If the issue persists, you can seek help from our support team using the steps above. This way, they can check your account securely and perform a viewing session if needed. Also, Quicken has a different dedicated support team. You can visit their Community page for more info: Quicken support.
For good practice, you can create a backup copy of your company files. This way, you can restore them anytime in case of accidental data loss.
You can always get back here in the Community if you have more questions about managing your QBDT. I'd be glad to help you some more. Take care.
Was it crashed after you run the application or open your company file? Did you encounter any error message?
I fixed this issue awhile ago by reinstalling Windows 10 and then installing Quickbooks again. All fixed. I did post somewhere that it had been fixed
consider using a 3rd party repair service to sort the issue.
After a month of having disappearing data issues, we updated to Enterprise 21 and after working in it ALL DAY I can't open the file...because it won't open, I can't get to tech support. Is there another way?
I'm here to help ensure you're able to open your company file, amykanimal.
Let's figure out if your company file or QuickBooks program itself is causing the issue.
After QuickBooks opens, open your company file. If you can't, try a second test. Open QuickBooks but don't open your company file. Instead, select Open a sample file.
If QuickBooks or the sample file don't open, or you see an error, the program is causing the issue. It's probably not your company file. Here's how to fix QuickBooks if it doesn’t open.
Also, you need to check if your computer meets the system requirements needed to run QuickBooks Desktop 2021. This is to know ensure compatibility with the program.
If the same issue persists, you can message our Support Team outside of QuickBooks.
Let me know how the chat goes by commenting below. I'll be around until you're able to open your company file.
This is a known problem, there is no solution and you cannot roll back to your old version. In addition to this you will also find that all of your import features no longer work properly. You can call in and they will pretend to work on the problem, but they know there is not solution, 2021 already out with the same problems. Your stuck with a pos system now that will never work right. eventually it will crash and you will lose all your data. They know, they dont care. somone should start a class action lawsuit, i have lost tens of thousands of dollars because of them,.
Umm, yeah right. your are full of &#^$ you know this problem cannot be fixed and you cannot roll back.
Its becuase the sample file was designed to avoid these problems on purpose, so they can blame your file.
Its time for a class action lawsuit, any attorneys on the board?
Contact Support and ask Data Service to evaluate your file. You may also ask a 3rd party service to evaluate it as the second opinion. Regarding IIF feature, there are some unresolved issues since 2019. You may consider purchasing a 3rd party rollback service to QBD 2018. Otherwise, utilize an importer tool as the workaround.
1) My fix: When I disabled windows real-time protection, Quickbooks magically opens.
2) It's annoying when QB people here tell you to contact support within the program that won't open. Clearly they don't understand the problem or don't care. We moved away from QB a year ago because of terrible service like this. I just needed to get back in for historical reporting.
What program are you using now. And how is it working for you? This is so frustrating. Plus I just tried to open it
and it said we will no longer offer support after April. I am so tired of this.
This is so wrong. Why is this not being fixed. And why did I get something today saying you are no longer going to support us after April?
This is not what I want you to experience with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software, @lbollinger4.
Allow me to share with you a couple of steps so you can open your software seamlessly.
First off, you’ll want to ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements and update your software to the latest release. This way, we can guarantee the program runs smoothly on your device.
If the issue persists, I recommend downloading our QuickBooks Tool Hub and run the Fix my Program. This tool scans your software for issues and quickly fix them. I’d be glad to walk you through the steps.
You can also check this article for more details and troubleshooting steps: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.
Also, QuickBooks recently release an update that older versions of QBDT are scheduled to be discontinued. After May 31, 2021, access to add-on services will be impossible for the 2018 versions of QBDT.
Users who are still using this version can still access the program but are unable to subscribe for services and technical support. For more details about this, you can read this article for reference: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.
If you wish to avail of our add-on service, I recommend upgrading your software. Moreover, In case you need to learn some tips and tricks in using your software efficiently, check out our QuickBooks Support page for guidance.
Keep me posted if you have any other concerns or questions about managing your QuickBooks. I’m just a post away from you. Stay safe and keep well.
