I'm trying to review the P&L for the year, and it keep switching me to modern view when I look at a detail transaction from the report. Then it changes the date and it's taking 3 times as long to go through the reports for the year. I have to do this with every client. How can I set all reports to classic view? Nothing I googled is working. I wish they'd stop changing the look just for the sake of changing it.

If you can access the Profit and Loss report without encountering any bugs, you can clear the browser's cache or switch to a different supported browser. It could be a short-term issue with QBO or the window you're using.
Currently, the modern view in reports is still an ongoing effort. That said, we're unable to switch back to the classic view at the moment.
Additionally, there are numerous ways to customize your reports. You can filter them to display specific accounts or customers or format the layout so that the correct data appears in the appropriate place.

I agree with you 100%. This is taking so much longer to do everything. I hate the modern view reports.

I can see how beneficial switching back to classic view would be for your business. With that being said, I want to ensure that your concerns are given to our Product Developers. You can do this by submitting feedback so they can consider an option to switch back to the classic view. Here's how:

This is my very first comment on a QBO thread solely for the purpose to chime in about how the modern view is slowing us down this busy season. The modern view itself is not as quick to navigate - transactions have to load again and again and again if there are a large amount to scroll through. However, the bigger problem is when you click "back to reports", the report you were originally reviewing has reverted back to a default date, such as last month. This means we have to pull the report we were reviewing all over again each time we click into an account detail. If there was a way to turn off modern view entirely, at least until this problem is fixed, that would be immensely helpful.
We need to be given the option to make classic view the default like it was before. I can see where some might like Modern View for certain reporting but I currently hate it. It makes doing a quick scan/scroll through of the transactions impossible. I'm fighting it constantly to get the report how I want it every time I click on a transaction and try to go back to the main report. I feels like it takes 3 times as long as it should to get anything accomplished. I second all the issues others have already mentioned.
"Modern View" s***s and defaulting to show that instead of Classic View is a huge pain in my a**. Why would developers change something like this in late-March without a way to turn it off????? Whomever made that call should be fired!!!
While I am sure some people will find this information useful, it does not address the core issue of the original post and subsequent user replies.

Please stop Modern View in reports. It's terrible and massively annoying.
Honestly Candice, we're bookkeepers and accountants not application quality assurance testers.
Respectfully, I wanted to let you know that because of this modern view thing, our firm has started to recommend that our newer clients NOT migrate from desktop to QBO for the first time in over 5 years.
How are we supposed to justify to a client that it took 45 minutes longer of billable time this year compared to last year because the product that we recommended they migrate to is now taking that much longer to use to prepare their business tax return?
We can't. We have to eat that time.
Please tell the developers that in all honesty, we appreciate the product, look at us here caring this much to write these comments. However, new features, functions and layouts really shouldn't be thrust upon us during filing season. We need time to find the faults. They need time to tweak the bugs. We don't have TIME right now!

Please.. Just let us use the classic view. In addition to everything already mentioned, for me the modern view has only loaded successfully once. I just get the message 'Something went wrong on our end'.... That's not a lie.
Dear QuickBooks Support:
When I click on to look at the transactions it keeps going to the modern view. I don't want this. I want the old classic view. This takes three times as long to go through transactions. This is rediculous.
Just chiming in to agree with all of my peers. Modern view suck and is not contusive to bookkeeping and quickly finding errors and reviewing.
We need the software to default to classic.

QBO - PLEASE STOP making changes just to make changes. Especially to the accountants version. How about fixing the things that need to be fixed before making changes that don't need to be changed? AT LEAST let us choose which version. You've got a "try modern view" button like it's an option. Such BS. I too am telling people not to switch from desktop AND to seriously look into other software options altogether. Get it together Intuit!
This is my first post here. Modern View is absolutely unacceptable. My monthly procedures are taking literally 10x as long. I will switch to different software if this terrible feature isn't fixed.
I agree! This is horrible. Intuit won't be at the top much longer with changes like this.
Agree x1,000 with all the other posters. Modern view is buggy, broken, and is categorically Not Ready For Prime Time. QBO finally reached a point where it was cleaner, faster, and easier than Desktop and then they let software engineers play around in the accounting software again.
I heard Xero has some pretty competitive pricing ...
Yep, I'll check that out. Also, I think it's only on essentials (can't tell if it's on advance cause I don't use that).

I totally agree, this is horrible! It makes absolutely no sense! Please but back the classic view. This is taking so very much more time to do my job! Who has time for this???NO ONE!
There's nothing about cache buildup.
Just disable the Modern View function.
The backend team should ask for suggestion before the implementation.
Users know the best instead of designer.
Modern View Reports are worthless. You have hijacked our choice in how to view our client reports. If you choose to view classic it only stays till you click on an entry to drill down, and then POP, the modern view is back! Unfortunately, I will have to stop recommending QBO to clients so readily, if this is not quickly rectified. I personally cannot stand to work with this report. It is time consuming and NOT user friendly! You have to click each account to expand to view and it is glitchy!? Whos idea was this! How about you spend time to fix an actual problems that many post about instead of messing with things that work. You all need to work some sort of default setting for reporting that can SAVE and actually flow thru to reporting AND once chosen it reporting it stays that way, unless you chose to change it. Modern vs Classic view reporting should be a default choice in settings. You should give discounts to long time and loyal clients, as this is just truly frustrating, unacceptable and disappointing.
I also HATE the modern view. Like others were saying, it takes much longer to view account detail from within the P&L. This slows down my bookkeeping significantly. Please give us the option to keep the classic view!
The QB support reply doesn't address the issue we are having.
It is on all tiers, rolling out randomly.
