Good day, ndunsworth.

Let me help and share with you some information regarding creating an estimate from an invoice.

While converting an estimate to an invoice is possible, creating an estimate from an invoice isn't currently available in QuickBooks Online. You will first need to create an estimate then convert into an invoice or, to sales order and then invoice.

To convert an estimate into an invoice:

  1. From the left menu, select Sales, then choose All Sales.
  2. Find and open the estimate/quote.
  3. Select Create Invoice.

  4. Add more details to the invoice as necessary, then select Save and close.

hi I am on QB 2018; i know how to turn estimate into invoice ... but i need help with the reverse. Customers ask us for quotes for work that are often very like a previous job. The qujickest thing to do would be select a prior invlice, adjust unit numbers, make any adjustment for a prce increase and save as an estimate. How do i do this?

Hi there, PaulMcF.

As what my colleague mentioned, estimates need to be created first before invoices. Therefore, you are unable to save or convert an invoice into an estimate.

You'll have to manually enter the product/service, price, and quantity on the estimate.
