Use items and categories in GoPayment

Learn how to use items and categories in GoPayment.

You can adjust your items and categories to meet the needs of your business.

  • You must have a standalone GoPayment account or use GoPayment with QuickBooks Desktop. For GoPayment accounts connected to QuickBooks Online, here’s how you can process payments on the go.
  • Items are only available through the GoPayment app on a mobile device. You can’t view items in the Merchant Service Center or on the GoPayment website. 
  • GoPayment items are unique to the merchant account you create them in. You can’t copy or export them to other accounts. 
  • Only a primary admin user can add items to sync to all users. If any other user creates an item, it'll only appear on their device.

Add an item and category

  1. From the homepage, tap Settings, then Manage Items.
  2. From Manage Items, tap + to add something new to your store.
  3. Enter the name of the item.
  4. To add a picture of your item, tap the Add Photo icon.
  5. Enter the price of your item.
  6. Turn Tax ON if you want to charge sales tax for the item.
  7. Tap Category to choose an existing category for the item.
  8. To add a new category, tap Edit, then +. Tap Done when you finish adding categories. When you enter a new category, you can add a description.
  9. Tap Add to store your new item and category.

Search for an item

  1. From the main page or Manage Items, tap the magnifying glass.
  2. Enter the first few letters of the item you want to find.

Add an item to your favorites list

Sometimes it's handy to have a list of your favorite items (your best-sellers) in a single place.

  1. Go to Manage Items, and select an item.
  2. Tap Favorite (Star), then Save.
  3. To remove an item from your list of favorites, select the item and tap Favorite again.

GoPayment marks your favorite items with a gold star. From Take Payment, just tap the gold star to show your list of favorite items.

Delete an item

  1. Go to Manage Items, and tap Select.
  2. Tap the item you want to remove, then Delete.

Edit categories

When you assign items to categories, it makes it easy to group similar items together to find what you want. You can add, delete, or edit categories.

  1. From the homepage, tap Settings, then Manage Items.
  2. Tap Categories, then Edit.
  3. From Category, tap + to add a Category. Tap - to delete a category or edit a category name.
  4. Tap Done.
