Can not connect to BofA

I keep getting the error in my QuickBooks Desktop (NOT QB ONLINE) bank feed "You are no longer connected to Bank of America web connect, Set up a new connection with Bank of America - New again to start using the new and improved bank feeds."

When I attempt this, it goes all the way through the process then at the very end when is says connected I get another air message, "Sorry, we've run into a problem. QuickBooks is having trouble connecting to Bank of America - New. Options; Try again later, this is a temporary issue and will be resolved in a day or two.Try to set up your Bank of America - new again then. Below this message it says; 88888 All accounts associated with this customer ID have been synced with QuickBooks bank feeds. If other wise contact your financial institution. No connection has been made and nothing has Syced. This has been going on for over a week now. I have contacted BoA and they state that QB has ended their relationship with them and I have contacted QB multiple times and they have been no help and say they did not end the relationship with BofA. So both sides are pointing their fingers at each other and saying it is the others problem. So frustrating.

Is anyone else dealing with this?

I'm experiencing the very same issue. Bank connection verified and complete via Bank of America but then can't choose account(s) to link up using QB's interface. Just get spinning wheel which just goes away once I click "ok" in bank connection screen. Using Desktop Pro Plus 2024. This is absolutely maddening.

Welcome to the Community, marbleisland1.

I completely understand your frustration. Connecting to your bank should be seamless, and I truly appreciate you letting us know about this.

This issue may stem from a technical problem disrupting the account linking process. First, I recommend updating your QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024 to the latest release, as updates often resolve connection-related issues. Additionally, ensure your internet connection is stable and strong, as instability can hinder successful account linking.

If the issue continues after these steps, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Live Support team for more personalized help. They have advanced tools to investigate what’s causing the issue and will guide you through fixing it so you can get back to work without interruptions.

To reach them, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Hit Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account, choose Continue, and then Continue with my account.
  5. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  6. Click Chat with us or Have us call you.

We appreciate you reaching out to us, MPicc.

To better assist you, did you encounter any error messages while attempting to connect your bank account? Knowing this will help us pinpoint the cause and provide the most appropriate solution.

In the meantime, we recommend downloading your bank feed transactions in a test company file to check if the issue lies with your bank's servers. Here's how you can do this:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Navigate to the File menu, then click New Company.
  3. Select Express Start or Start Setup.
  4. Set up Bank feeds for the account you're having a problem with.
  5. Download your transactions.

If an error occurs, contact your bank’s support team, as the issue may be on their end. You can provide them with a copy of your Bank Feed logs to assist in resolving the problem.

If the transactions download successfully, ensure the file format is compatible with QuickBooks. Please note that only .qbo files are supported.

Here's how to see if the issue is with your bank or the file type:

  1. Sign in to your official bank's website.
  2. Locate and download your bank transactions in a .qbo file.
  3. Import your transactions to QuickBooks.

If you're unable to open the .qbo file, the problem might be with your bank. Contact them for further assistance. Otherwise, if the transactions import, refer to this article for the next steps: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, you can refer to this article for additional guidance on ensuring a secure and efficient banking experience: Refresh your connection for online banking.

I got a notice in Quickbooks Desktop to switch from Bank of America New to Bank of America QBDT by July 7 because Bank of America New will no longer work.  So I disconnected my Bank of America New feeds and tried connecting to Bank of America QBDT.  It connect but I get error 8888 and it says it is temporary try again.  So what is up?

for my checking account I log into BofA and then select download option "WEB connect for Quickbooks 2018 and above".  It downloads to PC download folder as stmt.qbo.  I open my BofA bank feeds window and then open that qbo file and it auto imports into my Quickbooks desktop.Yes, its an extra step that I would prefer it not require, but it works for me.

This on-going problem between Intuit QB and BofA is a terrible situation for each of their many loyal customers.  BofA was no help. Attempting to set up a new account in QB did not work.  When I call QB they say change to on-line version - after paying $1,149 to be able to maintain Desktop. It appears that Intuit wants everyone on-line.  Colleagues who switched to on-line told me that conversion process was a nightmare for them.

We use Quicken for some other financial matters. It and BofA work just fine.

After I removed the B of A from my accounts as instructed in the email, I was not able to reconnect. Now I do not have any account entries in the Bank Feeds window in QB. How do I add my accounts into the Bank Feeds window so I can update using Web Connect?

Thanks.

for my checking account I log into BofA and then select download option "WEB connect for Quickbooks 2018 and above".  I select the time period I want to download.  It downloads to PC download folder as stmt.qbo.  I open my BofA bank feeds window and then open that qbo file and it auto imports into my Quickbooks desktop.

I have Quickbooks Desktop - up to date.  For my BofA checking account I log into BofA.  I then download WEB connect for Quickbooks 2018 and above.

In my PC download folder it is "statement.qbo".  I open my QB bank feeds window and then open the qbo file and it auto imports my checking account data.

This on-going QB - BofA issue is terrible for the many long term loyal customers of each.

On a side note we use the Quicken program for some other financial matters. Quicken and BofA work fine together.  It is difficult to understand why Intuit and BofA no longer work properly.  BofA is no help. Attempting to set up a new account in QB does not work.  QB techs can't help - just direct you to change over to QB on line and then "it should" work but no guarantee.  This is the response after paying $1,149 for Quickbooks Desktop.  My colleagues who changed over to on-line told me the conversion process was a time consuming nightmare for many reasons I will not belabor her.

As I assume other have I received this email (partial quote below) and proceded to actively resolve what Intuit said needed to be done. As other have pointed out, none of the email is accurate - it simply does not work. This deserves legal attention, particularly for users that just paid their ransom of a license fee.

Hi Mike,

We are notifying you about an upcoming change to your Bank of America online bank feeds connection for QuickBooks Desktop.

As of July 6, 2026, Bank of America is retiring its current online bank feeds connection. This means that your Bank of America online bank feeds for QuickBooks Desktop will stop working after July 6, 2026 if you do not disconnect from the current application and reconnect to the new Bank of America interface.

Accessing the new Bank of America interface is easy: simply disconnect from your current Bank of America connection ("Bank of America - New") and reconnect to the new updated connection ("Bank of America QBDT") by taking the following steps:

Unfortunately, I am having the same problem. Strangely, one of my B of A checking accounts connected to Bank of America QBDT but my main general checking account will not. And now that main general account won't connect back to Bank of America New anymore even though it was working perfectly fine before I followed the instructions to disconnect it.

I wish there was another solution to replace QB, but have not found one yet.
