Can not connect to BofA

I keep getting the error in my QuickBooks Desktop (NOT QB ONLINE) bank feed "You are no longer connected to Bank of America web connect, Set up a new connection with Bank of America - New again to start using the new and improved bank feeds."

When I attempt this, it goes all the way through the process then at the very end when is says connected I get another air message, "Sorry, we've run into a problem. QuickBooks is having trouble connecting to Bank of America - New. Options; Try again later, this is a temporary issue and will be resolved in a day or two.Try to set up your Bank of America - new again then. Below this message it says; 88888 All accounts associated with this customer ID have been synced with QuickBooks bank feeds. If other wise contact your financial institution. No connection has been made and nothing has Syced. This has been going on for over a week now. I have contacted BoA and they state that QB has ended their relationship with them and I have contacted QB multiple times and they have been no help and say they did not end the relationship with BofA. So both sides are pointing their fingers at each other and saying it is the others problem. So frustrating.

Is anyone else dealing with this?

How do I fix Bank of America bank feeds that won't connect in QuickBooks Desktop?

Bank of America made security changes that require QuickBooks Desktop users to disconnect the old bank feed and reconnect using the "Bank of America QBDT" option, so the fix is to update QuickBooks, turn off the old feed, and set up the new connection. If the reconnection still errors out afterward, that's a sign the fix needs to be finished on your specific account with Live Support, and there are manual import options to keep you going in the meantime.

Step 1: Prepare QuickBooks and your company file

Make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release and back up your company file before you proceed. These steps help you avoid data loss and discrepancies.

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to File, then select Switch to Single-user mode.
Note: If you see Switch to Multi-user mode, proceed to Step 3.
  3. Select Company, then select My Company.
  4. If you haven’t yet, select Manage Your Account to sign in to your Intuit account.
  5. Void or delete pending online payments or checks.
  6. Add and match previously-downloaded transactions.

Step 2: Turn off Bank Feeds

Turn off Bank Feeds for the bank account you need to reconnect to QuickBooks. This helps you avoid discrepancies.

Note: You’ll have to turn it back on later.

If you encounter any issues while you turn off Bank Feeds, here’s how you can fix them.

Step 3: Turn on Bank Feeds

Follow these steps to reconnect the bank account you disconnected earlier to QuickBooks.

  1. Go to Banking, then select Bank Feeds.
  2. Select Set Up Bank Feed for an Account.
  3. Enter your bank’s name, then select your bank from the Most Common or Matching Results.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Enter the username and PIN or password you use for your bank. Then, select Connect to connect to your bank’s server.
Note: Your bank might prompt you for a one-time password (OTP).
  6. Select the account(s) you want to connect to QuickBooks, then select Connect.
  7. Select Close.

Step 4: Download transactions

Follow these steps to download transactions from your bank.

Tip: The next time you use Bank Feeds, QuickBooks will automatically download the latest transactions.

  1. Go to Bank Feeds, then select Bank Feeds Center.
  2. From the BANK ACCOUNTS section, select the bank account you want to download transactions from.
  3. Select Download Transactions.
  4. Select Transaction List, then review and match the transactions.

Full walkthrough: Refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking in QuickBooks Desktop. On a Mac, use Refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, which also lists the affected banks and reconnection dates.

If it still won't connect

Several people hit an error right after the connection appears to complete. If that's you, the reliable next step is to have our team look at your account directly, since they can see why the sync is failing and finish the reconnection. Contact QuickBooks Desktop support (Help menu, then QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us, then request a callback).

Manual options while the feed is down

  1. If Bank of America offers a Web Connect (.QBO) file for your account, download it and import it (Banking, then Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect File).
  2. If only other formats are available, import your transactions with a CSV file instead: Import and export CSV files in QuickBooks Desktop.

For general setup and the Direct Connect vs Web Connect difference, see Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you can share the exact error text you see at the final step, and whether your Bank of America download page currently offers a .QBO file, we can point you to the right next move.
